STAND UP PADDLE (SUP) is said to have originated in Hawaii in around 2004, although there is some fantastic footage on Youtube of surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku riding a wave while standing astride an Australian surf-ski way back in 1939, so in some ways the sport is not entirely new at all.
